Off Week

Because I was out of town, I do not have a Monday Sermon post. But, in keeping with the trajectory of the Narrative Lectionary, I encourage you to read Exodus 14 sometime this week (this would have been the sermon topic if I were in town). In fact, I invite you to read the Exodus story from the beginning to chapter 19. It is a story of God hearing God’s people cry out, God’s response, and how God delivers justice and liberation for God’s people.

But God doesn’t stop there, as God uses this liberation to create a new nation – Israel – in the wake of the Exodus. This week we’ll take a look at the beginning of this new nation, as God creates a covenant with Israel to be God’s people. This covenant includes the Ten Commandments, which we’ll focus on this Sunday. So, read if you can!
