#ThinkAheadThursday
We can celebrate Easter by celebrating and cultivating life. God’s resurrection power is most powerfully evident in raising Jesus from the dead, but it is not limited to that. In this week’s reading, Acts 3:1-10, we see that resurrection power also improves life as the disciples heal a man lame from birth.
For this reason, I’m glad to see our society celebrating folks who work for life, and whom we take for granted. I’m especially thinking of healthcare workers and all workers who provide us food, from farm workers to grocery workers. These people bring life to us by preserving it (in the case of healthcare workers) and providing the nutrition for it (food service workers). We did not normally celebrate these groups, and if we did, it was never to the degree they deserve. But in the midst of life-altering changes and threats, I’m particularly thankful for them. And in being thankful for them, I celebrate Easter.
As part of our church’s effort to bless and celebrate healthcare workers, we are sending letters to South Shore Hospital. These could include prayers, Scripture verses, notes of encouragement, a joke or something that will bring a smile, etc.
If you’d like to join us in this endeavor, you can address letters to different departments (Nursing Staff, Emergency Department, Environmental Services, Food Services, Patient Access, Physicians, Maternity, Radiology, Surgical Staff – than you, Melissa Pillone, for helping us organize this!)

If you are reading this from another location, I’d encourage you to find a local healthcare facility to encourage with letters. This is a trying time for all healthcare workers, and I pray a quick note of encouragement can help.
